Solar football field: As long as someone kicks the ball, they can generate electricity

Solar energy refers to the solar radiant energy. The main expression is solar rays that are often called. In modern times it is generally used to generate electricity or to provide energy for appliances. With the declining fossil fuels, solar energy has become an important part of human energy use and has been continuously developed. The use of solar energy has two methods: photothermal conversion and photoelectric conversion. Solar power generation is a new type of renewable energy.

Now Africa has begun to worry about the possibility of providing renewable energy. It is understood that the African Union is committed to investing 20 billion U.S. dollars in research in this area in the next decade. In East Africa, solar services have proved to be a very mainstream success, while West Africa is still in its early stages.

The solar football field we are going to introduce today is one of the experiments. When someone plays football inside, they can generate electricity through kinetic energy. This innovative football stadium built last year is located in a normal university in Lagos, Nigeria's commercial center. It is built by the energy giant Shell, music star Akon, and Pavegen, a British company that has always supported solar energy.

Pavegen has been providing Africa with cheap renewable energy solutions in recent years to solve the power problems. The most interesting technical feature of this solar soccer field is that it combines kinetic energy with solar energy to generate electricity together. However, this type of football field is not the first time it has appeared. As early as 2014, Brazil built such a football field.

This football field mainly uses tiles on the stadium to capture kinetic energy to generate electricity. The surface of the stadium has 100 tiles on the surface. This power can power a variety of low-voltage systems, including streetlights, or store electrical energy for later use. These special tiles can use the kinetic energy generated by the player's movement on the court to generate electricity. The kinetic energy generated by this kinetic energy combined with solar panels can power street lamps in the community where the stadium is located. It lasts up to 24 hours.

In general, the amount of electricity generated depends on the pace of the players. Therefore, Pavegen provides this technology is most suitable for the pedestrian area where more pedestrians, such as schools, sports centers and markets are very feasible target areas . According to Laveence Kemball-Cook, the founder of Pavegen, this highly innovative solar football field has many possibilities. He said: "This project shows that the future energy structure will combine kinetic energy and solar energy to improve community life."

Currently, Laurence Kemball-Cook and Pavegen hope to deploy this tile technology across the entire African continent in order to alleviate power problems. To do this, Pavegen needs to find a balance between mass production of tiles and prices because it must continually reduce the cost of this tile technology.
